We’ve been working hard on Neal’s new bedroom and a scrapbook room for Amber in our basement. We’re just about done with both rooms. We have a few small items left. We need to hang the antique doors for Amber’s closet and entry. We need to install the bi-fold doors to the furnace and hot water heater that are accessible through her room. Then, we have to hang the antique entry door for Neal’s room.
I moved most of Neal’s things into his room while Amber was at CHA. We wanted to surprise her. When she left, we still had to paint the shelves in Neal’s closet and the shelves in her closet and her moldings. I worked on them while she was gone so she wouldn’t have to bother with it when she got home.
We moved some of the bigger pieces of furniture into her room last Tuesday. We’ve been under the weather at our house. So, once we are back to full speed we will finish up both rooms, and finish repainting Neal’s old room that Riley will be moving into. Both boys are so excited for their new rooms.
The pictures of Amber’s room were taken after we moved some things in on Tuesday. She used the pictures for an assignment she had for the Bo Bunny blog on Wednesday. I like what she did for the “14 things” layout. Here’s some pictures of Amber and Neal’s rooms.
The drawers (above) are two out of a set of four. These were Amber’s grandpa’s architectural plan drawers. He was an engineer. We added the legs to them to raise it up for storage as well as to give Amber some counter space to work at.
The antique closet door (above, left) is just set in place for the picture. I think it looks great with the colors we selected and the wood floors (above, right).
Here’s the “Scrap Cave” while we were doing the work and storing things (below, left). And, here’s Amber in her new room (below, right)!
We’ve had a great time working on the two rooms. Amber’s dad was a great help. He was there many, many nights and Saturdays to help — except when it came time to paint. He doesn’t like to paint! My dad was sick most of the time we spent working on the rooms. He’ll get to help us with the bathroom and family room! We’re looking forward to getting our house a little bit more organized before we get started on the bathroom and family room. Can’t wait!
